SECONDARY ROADS DEPT.
TITLE: Summer Laborers (6)

SALARY RANGE: $8.00 – 10.00/hour
(Based upon Experience with Woodbury County.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for a variety of duties including cutting brush, machine maintenance, and numerous other duties assigned by supervisor as related to scope of responsibility.

Work Headquarters: At any of the following Woodbury County Secondary Roads maintenance sheds: Moville, Correctionville, Oto and/or Hornick, Iowa.

APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness to perform routine manual work; good physical condition with ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Must be 18 years or older, must have transportation and possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license. Employee hired will be required to furnish and wear safety shoes while performing job duties. All other safety equipment required will be furnished by Woodbury County.

JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER
TITLE: P/T Female Youth Worker*
(Part-time approximately 24 hours/week)

ENTRY SALARY: $13.94/hour (Plus Partial Benefits)

PAY GRADE 1

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for the daily care, personal guidance, and recreational programs for juveniles, ages 13-17; help establish and maintain detention care life and standards;
and assists with counseling, guidance, and evaluation of juveniles pursuant to regulations established in the Iowa Administrative Code.

APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited high school with two (2) years of college related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with emphasis in Juvenile Justice and correctional problems; personal maturity necessary to cope with difficult detainees; ability to physically control youth if necessary. Bilingual skills will be considered beneficial. A completed County Application form, a resume and a copy of high school or college diploma are required.

*Required by law to have one male and one female youth worker on each shift. This vacancy is for a part-time female youth worker. Males may apply for future vacancies.

HUMAN RESOURCES DEPT.
TITLE: H.R. Safety/Risk Coordinator

SALARY RANGE: $36,000/year (Plus Benefits)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates and operates the Woodbury County Safety Program in conjunction with operational responsibility and oversight of the County Risk Management Insurance Program and County Workers’ Compensation Program. Responsible for preparing and maintaining necessary documents for required internal recordkeeping and submission of required documents to federal and state entities. Assists the general public and employees with departmental related issues. Performs other HR departmental duties as necessary for operation needs of the department. Work is performed under regular supervision of departmental Director.

APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field or a minimum three years work experience in the insurance field with emphasis on handling and operational responsibility for risk insurances including liability, property and workers’ compensation. Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment; business English, spelling and arithmetic; computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel programs; ability to plan and organize a variety of departmental duties; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to safeguard confidentiality; ability to keep accurate files and records and to prepare accurate reports from file sources; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public. Will perform a variety of related work as needed. A completed County application form and a resume are required.
