Tri-State Behavioral Health Association provides managed behavioral and
employee assistance program (EAP) services to private and public sector
clients in the area of Iowa and Nebraska. Incorporated in 1995 by
northwest Iowa providers of mental health and substance abuse services,
Tri-State Behavioral Health also provides managed care services to the
mentally ill/chronic mentally ill population of Woodbury County, IA. The
services provided by the Tri-State to the mentally ill population are
outlined in the Woodbury County Mental Health Services Management Plan.
In brief, the following services are provided to Woodbury County by
Tri-State.
Determination of client eligibility to receive services funded by
Woodbury County. Tri-State reviews applications requesting service
funding, and communicates eligibility information to clients, providers,
and Woodbury County.
Managed care services to clients receiving impatient mental health
services at the State Mental Health Institutes, outpatient services at
area mental health centers, and residential group homes and supervised
apartment services. Medical necessity and appropriateness of admission
and continued treatment of services is continually monitored by
Tri-State.
Maintaining a network of behavioral health providers for services to
clients eligible for funding of Woodbury County. Providers of services
include mental health centers, substance abuse centers, residential
facilities, hospitals, psychiatrists, and social workers. Claims
eligible clients are processed and paid by Tri-State Behavioral Health.
Tri-State Behavior Health provides mental health services in accordance
with criteria specified in Woodbury County's Mental Health Services
Management Plan, which outlines financial eligibility guidelines,
services availability, and other program procedures. A copy of the
Mental Health Services Plan can be obtained from the Woodbury County
